Most universities in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific lack the strong quality management systems required to promote academic and research activities, ensure financial stability and to respond to calls for proposals for competitive international financing. Institutions also face weaknesses in capacities in respect to administrative support for internal and external activities, low developed quality assurance mechanisms, poor visibility at international level and insufficient intra-regional cooperation.
EDULINK tackles these deficiencies through support to capacity building activities that will strengthen existing, or create new, international relations offices and quality assurance departments. The Programme is expected to improve training programmes for management and administrative staff and to strengthen the research capacities of the participating universities.
